Description

A quick and flavorful beef stir-fry with vegetables served over rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Optional: Sriracha, for some extra heat

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes until thoroughly combined.
  3. Add the sauce mix to the browned beef in the skillet. Stir well, allowing the mixture to simmer for about 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  4. Stir in the shredded carrots and sliced bell pepper, mixing well. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.
  5. While the meat and vegetables are cooking, prepare your rice according to package instructions if not yet cooked.
  6. To assemble, scoop rice into bowls and top with the beef and vegetable mixture.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation. Consider adding Sriracha for some heat if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less crushed red pepper and Sriracha.
  • Feel free to substitute vegetables based on your preference.
