Description
Delicious cheddar sausage biscuits perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 oz breakfast sausage links
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter (cut into cubes)
- 4 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat liner.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausages and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove to a cutting board and slice.
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Add the butter and using a pastry cutter or a fork, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
- Stir the cheese and the sliced sausage into the flour mixture. Pour in the milk and stir just until it starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
- Pour the mixture out onto a work surface dusted with flour. Knead just until it comes together – the dough will be sticky. Pat into a rectangle about 10×6 inches.
- Cut into 6 rectangles. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 13-15 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from the oven and brush with the melted butter. Serve warm.
