Description

Delicious cheddar sausage biscuits perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 6 oz breakfast sausage links
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter (cut into cubes)
  • 4 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat liner.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausages and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove to a cutting board and slice.
  3. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  4. Add the butter and using a pastry cutter or a fork, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  5. Stir the cheese and the sliced sausage into the flour mixture. Pour in the milk and stir just until it starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
  6. Pour the mixture out onto a work surface dusted with flour. Knead just until it comes together – the dough will be sticky. Pat into a rectangle about 10×6 inches.
  7. Cut into 6 rectangles. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 13-15 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from the oven and brush with the melted butter. Serve warm.
