Description

A deliciously sweet and tangy slow cooker orange chicken dish perfect for any dinner.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Toss chicken pieces in flour until fully coated.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the chicken for 1–2 minutes on each side.
  3. Transfer browned chicken to the slow cooker.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, brown sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Pour the sauce over the chicken and stir to coat.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or on high for 2–3 hours until chicken is tender.
  7. In the last 30 minutes, mix cornstarch and water and stir into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
  8. Serve over rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by omitting the crushed red pepper flakes if you prefer a milder dish.
  • Serve with steamed rice or your favorite grain.
